Inspired by the brand exclusive acetates, a creative collaboration to reward designers and photographers of the future

A class of 20 year old students from a design school, an eyewear brand, a blank sheet of paper, a brief to follow and a tutor to assist the young people translate theory into practice. These were the essential elements that made up a semester of collaboration between the IED in Turin and VANNI. The aim of the project was to develop creativity and design ideas in areas inherent to eyewear production (Jewellery and Accessories Design Course) and photography of eyewear both modelled and still life (2nd and 3rd year of 2 Photography Courses).

At the heart of the collaboration a reflection on the personalised acetate patters that are what makes a pair of  VANNIs inimitable, yet recognizable, and in particular the newest MACRO exclusive acetate.

Six students were awarded for best photography: modelled and still life from current VANNI collections. Choosing appropriate locations, carrying out casting sessions and styling the models, lighting and shooting and producing images for a VANNI social media campaign. The photographs capture college life, visual diary of the IED.

Two awards went to design students who will see their winning projects transformed into prototypes and exhibited at the Mido 2019. One of the 2 capsule collection is inspired by an original mix of eyewear styles and shapes, and the other by looking at a night stars constellation.
